Pouring beans from Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi

TurkishSpecialty CoffeeTakeaway OnlyCash Only

Established in 1871 on Tahmis Sokagi beside the Egyptian Bazaar, Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi is the oldest operating coffee roaster in Turkey and arguably the most historically significant Turkish coffee house in Istanbul. It was the first shop to sell pre-roasted and ground coffee rather than raw beans. Visitors buy freshly ground Turkish coffee by weight; there is no sit-down service, only the ritual of the purchase and the aroma of the roasting floor.
