Inoda Coffee Honten
Nakagyo · Kyoto
Pouring beans from Inoda Coffee
Founded in 1940 and now operating from a graceful machiya near Karasuma-Oike, Inoda Coffee Honten is Kyoto's most storied kissaten and a genuine living piece of Showa-era coffee culture. The signature Arabian Pearl blend is a deep-roasted mocha-based coffee served in porcelain since the shop's earliest days, extracted through a nel drip cloth filter for unusual smoothness. The retro interiors, brass fixtures, and unhurried pace have made it a pilgrimage for coffee historians and a beloved daily habit for central Kyoto residents.
