United Arab Emirates · 26 hand-picked cafés
Dubai's specialty coffee scene has grown from a handful of warehouse roasteries in Al Quoz to one of the most dynamic third-wave cities in the world. The transformation began around 2007 with RAW Coffee Company and accelerated through the 2010s as Australian, Japanese, and homegrown founders turned industrial units along Alserkal Avenue and Port Rashid into destination cafes drawing baristas and enthusiasts from across the region.
Today the city's specialty map is genuinely diverse: roastery flagships with SCA training campuses sit alongside minimalist Japanese pour-over bars in downtown malls, creek-side Italian-Emirati neighbourhood cafes in Bur Dubai, and design-forward villa spaces in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim. JLT and DIFC have their own tightly curated specialty hubs serving the city's international professional community.
What unites them is a commitment to traceable, single-origin sourcing and precise extraction, values that now feel native to Dubai rather than imported. Whether you prefer a dawn cold brew overlooking Mina Rashid's marina or a midnight pour-over in an Umm Suqeim courtyard, the city offers specialty coffee at a quality and variety that rivals London or Melbourne.
