Zahret El Bustan
Downtown / Wust el-Balad · Cairo
Tucked into a passageway off Hoda Shaarawi Street in Downtown Cairo, Zahret El Bustan has served the city's literati and artists for roughly eighty years. Its sign reads 'the concourse of literati and artists' and it gained renewed fame as a gathering point during the 2011 Revolution. The menu runs to traditional drinks including sahlab, shay, and Turkish coffee served at simple outdoor tables in a narrow alleyway.
