The world's third-largest Starbucks opened in Shanghai in December 2017 as a 2,700-square-meter Reserve Roastery that roasts beans on site and features a 27-meter cold brew tower, a Princi artisan bakery, tasting rooms, and a coffee library. Despite the brand's ubiquity, the Reserve Roastery operates at a genuinely craft level with rare single-origin lots, multiple manual brewing methods, and barista experiences not found at standard Starbucks locations. It remains one of Shanghai's most-visited large-format coffee destinations.
