Peerless has been roasting coffee in Oakland since 1924, making it one of the oldest continuously operating specialty roasters in California. The family-owned operation won Roaster of the Year in 2019 for its combination of quality, sustainable sourcing practices, and community commitment. The Oak Street roastery and cafe is open weekdays and gives visitors direct access to fresh-roasted beans alongside espresso and drip drinks in a working roastery environment.
