Open since 1921 on Rua de Santa Catarina, Café Majestic is one of the most celebrated historic cafes in the world, classified as a building of public interest in 1983. Its Art Nouveau interior of velvet benches, varnished wood panelling, and Flemish crystal mirrors has attracted writers, artists and intellectuals for more than a century. The coffee is traditional Portuguese espresso rather than specialty grade, but the space itself is an essential part of Porto's cafe history.
