Federico Maggiulli opened Il Cafetero in 2019 in a lively residential quarter west of the city centre, betting that traditional Italian espresso drinkers could be converted to specialty. Since 2023 the café also operates as a micro-roastery, offering side-by-side tasting flights of three single origins extracted via moka, V60, and chemex. The combination of roastery transparency and neighbourhood accessibility, far from the tourist circuit, gives Il Cafetero a character found nowhere else in Milan.
