Accessed through an unmarked door off a lane behind Huaihai Zhong Lu, Cafe On Air consistently appears on shortlists of Shanghai's best overall coffee shops. Natural light from a rear courtyard drives the interior ambiance, and the espresso and pour-over execution are both precise. A second location on Sinan Lu has since opened but the Huaihai original retains the quieter, more local character.
