Blacksmith opened in 2013 in the former home of the legendary Mary's bar on lower Westheimer, a collaboration between Greenway Coffee founders David Buehrer and Ecky Prabanto and the Underbelly restaurant group. The cafe pulls Greenway's rotating Scrimshaw espresso on a pressure-profiled La Marzocco GB-3, serves a full breakfast and lunch menu with house-made biscuits, and keeps an open patio that anchors Montrose's daytime coffee culture. It remains one of the city's definitive third-wave institutions.
