Versailles at 3555 SW 8th Street invented the Miami ventanita format in the early 1970s, when owner Felipe Valls installed a walk-up window to serve cafecito to the surrounding Cuban exile community. More than fifty years later, the sidewalk crowd still lines up around the clock for a shot of sweet Cuban coffee and a guava pastry from one of the most culturally significant street windows in American food history. This is not a specialty coffee destination in the third-wave sense, but no honest Miami coffee map omits it.
