Founded in 1953, Tomoca is the oldest and most storied coffee institution in Addis Ababa, roasting its own blends of Ethiopian arabica on site in the original Piassa shopfront. The bar serves the classic standing-room espresso and macchiato that shaped Italian-influenced coffee culture across the city. Twenty-two branches now operate across Addis Ababa, and an outpost opened in Tokyo in 2015. The Wawel Street original remains the pilgrimage spot for locals and visitors alike.
