THALIA Coffee Roasters opened in 2019 in the coastal town of Itoshima, about 30 minutes from central Fukuoka, and roasts South American and African specialty beans in a setting that combines surf culture with serious craft. Bicycle rentals, a sea-facing terrace, and almond toast round out an experience that is distinctly not city-center, but the coffee quality is uncompromising. A worthwhile half-day trip for anyone willing to leave the Yakuin cluster.
