Owned by the daughter of Nguyen Van Giang, the man credited with inventing egg coffee, Cafe Dinh occupies a second-floor room on Dinh Tien Hoang Street just steps from Hoan Kiem Lake. Bare plaster walls, soft light through shuttered windows, and a small balcony overlooking the lake create an atmosphere of genuine Old Quarter timelessness. The egg coffee is beautifully made, ladled into a ceramic cup and served in a shallow bowl of hot water to hold the temperature.
